![]() They would not be suffering by moving to a rundown part of the neighborhood, called Deering Highlands it is a place where other labeled outcasts reside. Still, I think about if Lena was not so preoccupied with falling in love and completely forgets her family. It is heartbreaking that Lena’s family was punished even though they were not involved in her decisions. Over the next few days, Hana pays a visit to Lena’s old neighborhood and learns that after Lena ran away into the Wilds, her family was severely punished by becoming jobless and lost their home. Just as Hana is about to talk to Jenny, she runs away. One day when Hana is with her mother, they almost hit a little girl running across the street, so Hana immediately recognizes the girl as Jenny Lena’s young cousin. Therefore, it alludes to the fact that regardless of someone being cured, it does not mean that all emotions are completely eradicated permanently. On the other hand, Lena focuses on her emotions of worry towards Lena and her family, which is surprising because if Hana is cured, then any feelings altogether. The two of them join her and other resistance groups to fight against the government instead of avoiding the issue. When Alex decides to speak to Lena, he says that after he was captured, he was severely tortured. However, when Julian confessed to Lena that he loves her, she responds by saying to give her more time to respond properly. Julian did not expect Lena to immediately return to how things used to be between them before Alex appeared and showed he was, in fact, not dead. Still, since he is an adorable character, he decides to be patient and gentle towards Lena and decides to wait for Lena and will not stop trying to win her over her heart. Unfortunately, Julian is hurt by Lena’s behavior and actions towards him. It causes Lena to be torn between Alex and Julian and results in her avoiding being affectionate towards Julian to sort out and understand her feelings. Alex is now angry and upset with Lena for the relationship she has with Julian, and it causes him to not speak to her for several days. If you don’t remember, Alex is the rebel boy she fell in love with during the first book. Alex is not dead, in fact, he is still alive. She also learned that she has been wrong all along. The boom starts off a few days after Lena saved Julian from being executed. Hana is now cured of delirium, she lives a well-off, privileged life inside Portland and she is well engaged to Fred, the city’s young mayor. Okay, so Lena is still not cured and lives in the Wilds, an unregulated area located outside of the main city she is also an active member of the resistance where they retaliate against the government’s beliefs mandating cures. If you remember the Delirium article, you will remember that Hana is Lena’s best friend from Portland, Maine it is where the government declared love and any emotion to be a delirium or disease. Requiem is told from the perspectives of Lena and Hana. In this article, I will be covering the third and final book of the Delirium trilogy, called Requiem by Lauren Oliver. ![]()
